The Embassy of the Republic of Korea held Korea Day 2017 Canberra at the Embassy garden on Saturday, 18 November 2017.
Despite the rain in the morning more than 3,300 local Canberrans turned up to enjoy Korean food and culture, which represents great interest of Australian people towards Korea.
Performances such as Taekwondo, Gilnori, traditional dances and music as well as participatory events including Quiz of Korea, traditional plays, writing Korean and wearing Korean traditional customs brought particular interest of visitors. Korea Tourism Organization Sydney and Korea Culture Center also prepared various plays and exhibition for the PyeonChang Winter Olympic 2018.
The performance of super-sized Bibimbap making, as part of the opening ceremony, highlighted the festival, with the participation of representatives of the Australian Government, Korean communities, diplomatic corps. In a super-sized Australia-shaped frame, they participated to mix ingredients of Bibimbap and wished for the succuss and harmony of multicultural Australian society and Korea.
