- Welcome to the Embassy of the Republic of Korea to the Commonwealth of Australia.
Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1961, Korea and Australia have continued to develop a cooperative relationship significantly in areas of not only diplomacy and security but also economy, trade and culture.
Korea has been able to enjoy its freedom and prosperity thanks to the noble sacrifice of the Australian soldiers in the Korean War, and I believe this strong bond will form the basis of the continued growth of the Korea-Australia relationship in the future. In an international environment that becomes increasingly complex, Korea and Australia should redouble efforts to take this relationship to another height as important diplomatic partners that share values and interests in various fields.
Australia is home to approximately 180,000 Koreans and around 20,000 Korean students and working holiday visa holders respectively who are pursuing their dreams in the country.
The Embassy of the Republic of Korea will work in line with the Korean government’s policy of ‘people-centered diplomacy’ with a view to putting this concept in action in the field. In this regard, we value communication and welcome your valuable feedback. We will also continue to make joint efforts with you to make Korea better known in Australia and to provide better consular services to all Koreans in Australia.
I would like to listen attentively to your opinion through this website and look forward to your suggestions and support.
