Korean Consul-General Mr Hanil CHEON attended the memorial service of Mrs Olywn Green, the widow of Korean War Veteran LTCOL Charles Green. At the service, he specially thanked the bereaved family for Mrs Green’s commitment and generous support to Korean War Veterans.
LTCOL Green killed in the action during the Korean War in 1951, Korean Government in 2019 awarded him the Order of Military Merit for his bravery and sacrifice. After left alone, Mrs Green has conducted research on her late husband which, along with their correspondence during the war years and testimonies of soldiers from the Korean War. These all efforts resulted in publishing the biography, “The Name’s still Charlie”.
The Service lasted about an hour with 60 guests attending. While reading the letter to her mother at the service, the daughter of the Green, Anthea Green, especially thanked the Korean Consulate and the Korean Community for the warm ties and cooperation she sent to Mrs. Green.
