The Honorable Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea Lee Nak-yon paid an official visit to Bangladesh from 13 to July 2019.
During his official visit, Prime Minister Lee held the schedule of: "Dinner Meeting with the Representatives of the Koraen Community and Korean Companies", "Wreath-laying Ceremony at National Martyrs' Memorial", "Visit to Youngone Corporation Factory", "Visit to KOICA Project Site (NIANER)", "Attending the Korea-Bangladesh Business Forum", "Meeting with the Hon'ble Prime Minister of Bangladesh & Signing of MoUs", "Courtesy Call on the Hon'ble President of Bangladesh", "Attending Official Dinner Hosted by the Hon'ble Prime Minister of Bangaldesh", and "Visit to Bangabandhu Memorial Museum".
During the meeting with the Hon'ble Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina, the two Prime Ministers have discussed measures on expanding cooperation into diverse areas such as investment, development cooperation and education.
Prime Minister Lee particularly requested for support from the Government of Bangladesh on the expansion of Korean Companies' business into Bangladesh. He hoped that the economic cooperation between the two countries that were centered on textiles and garments in the past could be expanded into infrastructure, energy and ICT. He also requested for support on Korean Companies' participation in the 'Chittagong Bay Terminal', the 'Diesel Electric Locomotives', the 'LPG Terminal', and the 'LNG Terminal'.
