Government considering appointing ambassador to head Strategic Affairs Secretariat (November 6th)
Trade unions decided to send a letter to House Mayor, Rodrigo Maia, requesting the revocation of Eduardo Bolsonaro's mandate of deputado (PSL-SP). Why: The statement in which the MP mentioned “a new AI-5” (the fifth of seventeen major decrees issued by the military dictatorship in the years following the 1964 coup d'état in Brazil) as an antidote to a radicalization of the left. They want a date to hand deliver the letter.
General Maynard Santa Rosa , who resigned from the head of the Secretariat for Strategic Affairs this week, is due to be replaced by an ambassador. Special advisor, Filipe Martins has been appointed to the post, but the heir to the chair must be an appointed diplomat by Chancellor Ernesto Araújo.
PF asks for Dilma and Mantega's arrest, but Fachin denies (November 6th)
The Federal Police (PF) asked the rapporteur of Lava Jato Operation in the Supreme Court (STF), Justice Edson Fachin, the temporary detention of former President Dilma Rousseff (PT), the former Finance Minister Guido Mantega (PT), the former senators Eunício Oliveira (MDB-CE) and Valdir Raupp (MDB-RO) and Minister Vital do Rêgo Filho, from the Federal Court of Audit (TCU). The requests - denied by Fachin - were formulated as part of an inquiry into the “buy and sell” of MDB political support for the PT in the 2014 presidential elections.
The suspicions were raised in the plea bargain agreement of executive Ricardo Saud, the J&F whistleblower, and former Transpetro president Sérgio Machado. In his report, Saud said there was payment of about R $ 46 million to MDB senators, at the request of the PT. According to the executive, although several donations have been official, this is an “improper advantage”, as PT leaders would be buying the support of peedebistas for the 2014 elections to guarantee the alliance between the two parties.
Machado, in turn, reported transfers of R $ 40 million by the J&F group to MDB senators, at the request of Mantega (then Minister of Finance), as a way to “buy political support” from the MDB. The inquiry was opened by Fachin on May 14 last year.
To inform the investigations, the whistleblowers presented spreadsheets, official donation receipts, invoices, fake contracts, bank deposit slip and payment receipts.
In June of this year, the PF sent the Supreme Court a 218-page report listing the full requests for temporary arrests, searches and seizures, and the collection of testimony from those investigated.
The PF filed “a request for temporary arrest of the most relevant investigated persons, as well as those who acted in the delivery and receipt in kind of the illicit amounts for the benefit of the MDB senators, on the ground that the deprivation of freedom of movement of these individuals is indispensable for identifying sources of evidence and obtaining information as to the authorship and materiality of the investigated criminal offenses ”.
The Federal Police served a series of search and seizure warrants this morning, along with measures to kidnap property, ordered by Fachin.
“In the case, however, as already stated, the plausibility of the investigative hypotheses carried out by the police authority is satisfactorily demonstrated, the claim of restriction of the freedom of movement of the investigated persons is not provided with the indication of concrete behaviors that are attentive to the findings that show the need for extreme action, ”noted Fachin in his decision, which authorized the operation on Tuesday.
“In this sense, it is possible to refer to the manifestation of the Attorney General's Office, pointing out that 'there is no evidence that, in freedom, the investigated may hinder the execution of the search and seizure measures'. With these considerations, I reject the required temporary arrests, ”concluded the Lava Jato rapporteur.
WITH THE WORD, DILMA ROUSSEFF
“It is appalling to hear that the Federal Police have called for the arrest of the former president in a case in which she is not investigated and has never been asked to provide any clarification.
The former president has always collaborated with investigations and has never refused to testify before the Federal Court, in cases where she was asked to speak.
Today, November 5, she was asked to provide clarification to the court, receiving notification from the civilized and polite hands of a federal delegate. In the late afternoon, I heard from the press about the arrest request.
The request for arrest is absurd given that she herself was not investigated in the inquiry in question. And it allows various assumptions, including a timely smokescreen. It also reveals the inconsequential effort of Justice Minister Sergio Moro to pursue political opponents. Above all, it makes visible and palpable the abuse of authority.
Good thing the common sense and responsibility of the minister responsible for the case in the Supreme Court prevailed, as well as the Federal Prosecutor himself. ”
WITH THE WORD, SERGIO MORO
“Regarding former President Roussef's position on the arrest request made by the police authority, the Minister of Justice and Public Security clarifies that he does not act or interfere with inquiries conducted by the Federal Police”
WITH THE WORD, EUNÍCIO OLIVEIRA
“Neither the businessman nor any address or persons related to him were the subject of any lawsuits arising from this decision of Minister Luiz Edson Facchin. As he has always done, the former senator is available to provide any clarifications the Judiciary may find necessary. ”
WITH THE WORD, FORMER PRESIDENT LUIZ INÁCIO LULA DA SILVA
“The former president has always been available for any clarification to the authorities. When we have access to the file the same conduct will be adopted. has not committed any wrongdoing and is a victim of lawfare, which consists in the perverse use of laws and legal procedures for political purposes.
WITH THE WORD, GUIDO KEEPS
“Guido Mantega was not the target of search and seizure, only received a subpoena to give testimony. Your defense has already contacted the authorities to schedule your appearance, at which time you will provide all clarifications in the interest of the investigations. ”
WITH THE WORD, THE VITAL MINISTER OF RIGO SON
“Minister Vital do Rego reaffirms his full confidence in justice and informs that he will not comment on the delegate's proposal, which was rejected by Minister Fachin.”
The report is trying to locate Raupp.
'Never count on the egg white before the chicken lays the egg,' says Lula about possible freedom (November 6th)
The former President Lula is not yet convinced that the STF (Supreme Court) can decide on Thursday (7), veto prison after conviction on appeal -which allow him to be placed in freedom.
“Never count on the egg white before the chicken lays the egg,” the petista has told people visiting him in prison.
And on Wednesday (6) Lula woke up at 7am with federal police at the door of the room where he is arrested in Curitiba. They wanted to hear from him at Operation Alaska, which finds out if JBS made illicit donations of $ 40 million to politicians in the 2014 election campaign.
Advised by lawyers, Lula did not testify.
