* NOTE: People wishing to get the types of visas listed below must have visa issuance confirmation numbers prior to applying for a Visa at the Overseas Consulate.
Sponsors of visa applicants may submit relevant visa documents to the Ministry of Justice in Korea on behalf of their prospective employees. After the submitted documents have been reviewed and approved by the Ministry, visa issuance confirmation numbers are given to the applicants. Once applicants obtain the numbers, they may bring the documents(listed below) to the nearest Korean embassy or consulate to receive the visa. However, it is important to note that the Consulate may request additional documents for verification purposes.
Processing time: Approx. 7 -10 business days (*variable depending on the daily volume,excluding mailing time and the application day)
IMPORTATN NOTE: Should the applicants choose to make flight reservations before the issuance of a Visa, please consider that no Express Services are available at this time and the Consulate is unable to guarantee the processing time or Visa approval over the phone.
-Visa Application Hours: Monday to Friday 9 am to Noon (12:00 pm)
-Visa Pick-up Hours: Monday to Friday 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm (except holidays)

-You may apply in person to ensure fast processing. You may alternatively apply by mailing in your complete application package, but please allow extra time both ways for mail delivery. We are not responsible for lost or delayed documents you send via post. You must read the mail-in instructions for additional items required. Incomplete postal application may be returned back to you at the applicant's expense without Visa issuance.
- Professor (E-1)
People who are qualified according to the ‘Higher Education Act’ standards and wish to teach at educational facilities

- Long-term Teaching of a Foreign Language (E-2)

- Research (E-3)
People who are invited by public or private institutions in Korea to engage in the field of natural science or in high technology research and development
- Technological Guidance (E-4)
People in public or private organizations who offer special technology or expertise in natural sciences/high-technology fields, or people who offer special technology or expertise not available in Korea
- Profession (E-5)
Professionals who are certified abroad in the fields of law, accounting, medicine, or other areas approved by Korean law and who plan to work in such areas within Korean regulations
- Culture and Arts (E-6)
People who plan to work in the following areas for the purpose of making profit: music, art, literature, sports, entertainment (e.g. acting, musical performances), advertisements, fashion modelling
- Specially-designated Activities (E-7)
People who have contracts with public or private Korean organizations to work in areas specially designated by the Minister of Justice
Required Items: (after obtaining a Visa Issuance number from Korea)
1. Complete Visa application form with a Visa issuance number clearly stated on the top.
2. One passport-type colour photo
(white background, must be taken within the last 6 months by a commercial photographer
with the date stamp on the back)
3. Original and a photocopy of passport (remaining validity of at least 6 months)
4. For non-Canadians only: original and a photocopy of either permanent resident card, work permit,
or study permit
5. Visa fee: Cdn $78 (cash or money order only), Cdn $70.20 for U.S. passport holders
