2020 GLOBAL KOREA SCHOLARSHIP
KOREAN GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM FOR UNDERGRADUATE DEGREES
The National Institute for International Education (NIIED) under the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Korea is inviting eligible Ghanaian applicants for the “Korean Government Scholarship Program for Undergraduate Degrees” to be conducted in Korea for an academic year in Korea for the period from March 1,2020 to February 28, 2025 (one year compulsory Korean language course inclusive). Below are the major details of eligibility and requirements: See the application guidelines attached for more details and forms for application.
Fields of study exceeding 4 years (Medicine, Dentistry, Architecture and Pharmacy) are not applicable.
Both applicant and his/ her parents should be Ghanaian citizens
applicants should be under 25 years as of March 1, 2020 (born after March 1, 1995)
Must be of good health both physically and mentally
Must have graduated or be scheduled to graduate from high school as of March 1, 2020
Must possess 80% out of 100% Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) as follows; 2.64/4.0, 2.80/4.3, 2.91/4.5, 3.23/5.0 or higher depending on your school grading system.
transcripts should contain description of school grading system. If applicant’s class rank or percentile is not stated on the transcript, kindly submit an additional official certificate issued by your high school to prove that your academic achievement satisfies the GPA or percentage above.
Round trip airfare to and from Korea after the program
Monthly stipend (900,000 won per month) plus other allowances
Tuition fees and Korean language training expenses
Medical insurance for major accidents and illness during the program
Recommendation letters from two different recommenders should be submitted sealed by the recommenders. (Applicant’s high school teacher, principal, academic advisor, etc)
Other documents include;
Certificates of citizenship of applicant and his/ her parents (birth certificate, parents passport, etc)
Certificate of Korean or English proficiency (if applicable)
Copy of applicant’s passport
NB: Forms must be filled in Korean or English. Documents or certificates in languages other than Korean or English must be submitted together with official notarized translation in English or Korean. All documents should be A4 sized ones, if smaller, attach the material to an A4 size paper. Documents should be arranged in order of the checklist of the Application Form. (Form1, Form 2 through to Form 7, transcripts, Graduation Certificate, etc)
Mailing addresses, emails and phone numbers must be accurate for easy contact. Submitted documents would not be returned to applicants. Incorrect or incomplete documents would not be accepted. Filled forms must be submitted to the Embassy personally or by mail/ courier (eg. EMS/ DHL etc) to the address below by Friday, October 11, 2019 by 4:00 pm. Applicants should write at the top right corner of the envelope being submitted, Undergraduate KGSP.
Shortlisted applicants would be contacted for interviews at the Embassy by Tuesday, October 22, 2019.
