H.E. Mr. KIM Sungsoo, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea in the Republic of Ghana attended the National Launch Ceremony of Capacity Development for Farmer Based Cooperatives (FBCs) / Farmer Based Organisations (FBOs) in Tamale, Northern Region of Ghana on March 13, 2018. At the launch of the project, Hon. Ignatius Baffour Awuah, the Minister of Employment and Labour Relations as well as KOICA and local officials attended and expressed their commitment and support for the project.
Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) is providing a 6.12 million dollar fund for this project from 2016 to 2019. This three-year project aims to strengthen FBCs/FBOs by providing training, consultancy, networking opportunities, and financial support in the three Northern Regions (Northern, Upper East, Upper West) in Ghana.
In his congratulatory speech, H.E. Mr. KIM Sungsoo stated that the project, which is being implemented by KOICA, in collaboration with the ministries and rural residents of Ghana, would enable his government to share its development experiences with Ghana. He wished that this project would improve livelihoods in the three Northern regions of Ghana by the time the project is phased out.
