Welcome to the website of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Ghana.
I would like to extend a warm welcome to you for visiting this website.
As one of the world’s major cocoa producing country, the Republic of Ghana became the first sub-Saharan African country to gain its independence in 1957, actively participating in non-alignment movement. Since then, it has become a leading country in promoting peace and democracy in Africa.
The Republic of Ghana shares some similarities with the Republic of Korea in that the two countries produced secretary-generals of the United Nations, Mr. Kofi Annan and Mr. Ban Ki-moon
Before the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1977, the exchanges between Korea and Ghana began as far back in 1960s through Koreans’ investment in the fisheries sector which has helped to boost Ghana’s economy until now. Today, Korean products, such as mobile phones and cars, have rapidly expanded its market share in the Republic of Ghana.
The Embassy of the Republic of Korea will continue its efforts towards strengthening bilateral relationship in various fields. Also, the Embassy will continue to promote the rights and interests of Koreans and Ghanaians in both countries.
I hope that all visitors to this website will find useful information on Korea-Ghana relations. I am looking forward to your continued support for enhanced partnership between the two countries.
