On July 26th, a signing ceremony on the Record of Discussion (RoD) between KOICA and Ministry of Public Works and Transport, and an agreement between KOICA and Global Green Growth Organization (GGGI) on Wastewater and Solid Waste Treatment Capacity Building Project for City Environment Improvement Lao PDR was held in Vientiane.
This project aims for the capacity building in treatment of the wastewater and solid waste, and will be carried out as an international organization cooperation project with Global Green Growth Organization(GGGI). It will establish a sustainable green city development plan in Vientiane capital and Pakse city, two representative cities of Lao PDR. It is expected to improve the health and sanitary environment by building a sustainable green city model.
H.E. Shin Sung-soon, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Lao PDR, Mr. Sungsoo OH, Resident Representative of KOICA Office in Lao PDR, Mrs. Vilaykham Phosarath, Vice Minister of Public Works and Transport(MPWT) and Mr. Sengdarith Kattingasack, Director General of MPWT have joined the ceremony.
H.E. Shin Sung-soon, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Lao PDR, said that the project will contribute to solving the environmental issues raised by rapid urbanization in Lao PDR and will be a momentum to help build green growth cities in Lao PDR. He expects the MPWT, KOICA, and the GGGI will altogether establish a good partnership and to make the project a great success.
