2020 Global Korea Scholarship Program for Graduate Degrees(Embassy Track)
The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Colombo announces 2020 Global Korea Scholarship Program for Graduate Degrees, which is designed to provide international students with opportunities to study at higher educational institutions in Korea for graduate-level degrees, which will enhance international education exchange and deepen mutual friendship between Korea and participating countries.
1. Total Number of Grantees: 5 students
2. Duration of Scholarship
o Master’s Degree program : 3 years (2020.9. ~ 2023.8.)
- 1 year of Korean language program
- 2 years of degree program
o Doctoral Degree Program : 4 years (2020.9~ 2024.8.)
- 1 year of Korean language program
- 3 years of regular degree program
※ Once you are selected as the beneficiary of this program, you can arrive in Korea in late August and begin your study from the fall semester, 2020.
3. Eligible Universities and Fields of Study
o Eligible Universities : 64 Korean universities designated by NIIED
- Appendix C in "2020 GKS-G Application Guidelines (English).pdf" is the list of 64 eligible Korean universities
- For more detailed information on majors (fields of study) offered by the universities listed above, refer to the “University Information” file attached under the GKS Notice post in our Study In Korea website (http://www.studyinkorea.go.kr).
4. Scholarship Coverage
o Airfare, Settlement Allowance, Monthly Allowance, Research Support Fee, Language Training Fee, Tuition, Thesis Printing Fee, Medical Insurance, Korean Proficiency Grants, Degree Completion Grants
5. Application Requirements
o Must be a Sri Lankan citizen
o Must be under 40 years of age as of Sep. 1st, 2020 (born after Sep. 1st, 1980)
o a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree as of 31st August 2020
o G.P.A. of 80% or higher from the previously attended institution.
6. Timeline
o Deadline of Application Submission : 15th March 2020
7. How to Apply
o Applicants must submit ONE set of original application forms (all required documents) and THREE sets of photocopied application forms to the Embassy by post;

It clarifies the qualifications, available universities and majors, application procedures, application forms, and further requirements.

For your Information, there is another GKS quota reserved for the University Track.
o Applicants who plan to apply to GKS through the University Track must submit their applications to the university of their choice directly.
o For the University Track applicants do not need to submit the application to the Embassy.
o The Information on the University track is also avaliable at the "2020 GKS-G Application Guidelines.pdf"
Applicants must apply either to a Koreanm Embassy where they hold citizenship or directly to one of designated universities.
If an applicant submit application to more than ONE institution mentioned above, his/her application will be discarded.
Therefore. applcants are not allowed to apply to Embassy Track and University Track at the same time.

Also there is another GKS scholarship for Research Program.
o The Research Program is only for the scholars, who already have invitation from Korean Universities prior to applying to this program.
