The OECD hosted the first Roundtable on Smart Cities and Inclusive
Growth on 9 July 2019, sponsored by the Korean Ministry of Land, Infrastructure,
and Transport. Ambassador Hyung-kwon Ko and OECD Deputy Secretary-General Ulrik
Vestergaard Knudsen addressed welcoming remarks to policy-makers, academics,
and industry experts. They explored the concept of smart cities from the
perspective of consumers and discussed the opportunities, challenges, and
measurement methodologies, performance, and data collection of these cities.
The Roundtable was a meaningful forum for each country to share its smart-city
