The Korean Delegation to the OECD held a reception on 2 December for its National Day. Some 350 people attended, including OECD Secretary-General Ángel Gurría, officials of the OECD Secretariat, and diplomats of each member country. The reception was the occasion to showcase Korean agricultural products and food culture, with exhibitions and tasting events such of typical food products, fruit, and traditional liquor.
In his welcoming speech, Ambassador Hyoung-Kwon Ko stressed that Korea developed from one of the poorest countries in the 1960s to one of the leading nations in various fields today and that it will continue to contribute to realizing “better policies for better lives, together” in co-operation with other OECD countries.
In turn, Secretary-General Ángel Gurría commended Korea for its active role in and contributions to the OECD, including as Vice Chair of an OECD Ministerial Council and Co-Chair of the Southeast Asian Regional Program.
