A joint forum was held at the OECD headquarters on 13 December 2019 between the organization and the Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, under the theme of digital transformation and the global economy.
It was attended by numerous experts, including Kim Seung-ho, deputy minister of International Trade and Legal Affairs of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy; Ulrik Vestergaard Knudsen, an OECD Deputy Secretary-General; Andrew Wyckoff, Director of the OECD’s Science, Technology, and Innovation directorate; Professor Keith Maskus of the University of Colorado; and Chang Ji-sang, president of the Korea Institute for Industrial Economics and Trade. They discussed the government's role in promoting inclusive growth as a response to digitalization and changes in the global economy.
Kim Seung-ho and Keith Maskus gave keynote speeches on "Korea and the OECD: 20 Years," and "Current Trade Disputes and International Trade Prospects," respectively. In his congratulatory speech, Ambassador Ko Hyoung-kwon of the Korean Delegation to the OECD stressed the importance of job strategies to harmonize the digital transformation with inclusive growth.
