The Consulate of the Republic of Korea in Cebu successfully held the reception of Korean National Day in Cebu on October 3, 2017 (Tuesday) in celebration of the Korean National Foundation Day. The event was held at the Marco Polo Plaza Cebu’s Grand Ballroom. There were about a total of 230 distinguished guests from the government and private sector who came to grace the event.
The event was sought to maintain the existing mutual cooperation between the Republic of Korea and the Republic of the Philippines. The Consul General of the Korean Consulate in Cebu, Mr. OH, Sung Yong told in his remarks, “Bilateral cooperation in various fields between our two countries has to be strengthened continuously.” The Consul General also mentioned and invited everyone to the 2018 PyeongchangOlympic Winter Games from 8 to 25 of February next year.
A representative of Honorable Hilario Davide III, Governor of Cebu Province narrated in a message “as we celebrate Korea’s continuous growth and development, may we also strengthen and celebrate as well our long-standing relationship that has been nourished by time.”
The guests had the chance to experience various Korean culture. Some of the Korean traditional handmade crafts “hanji” and a traditional home called “Choga-jib” were displayed. Also, a photo booth was stationed where guests can get photos of themselves dressed in a “hanbok”, a traditional Korean dress and a video presentation of the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympic Winter Games was shown.The guests were also entertained by the different performances including a Korean drum dance called “Samgo-mu”, by Bujiwha; Cebuano Taekwondo team and Cebuano K-Pop group performances by Equinox and Merge.
