EMBASSY TRACK : March 22, 2019 (any dossier that arrives after this date will not be considered)

UNIVERSITY TRACK : May vary according to universities (but March 22  2019, at the latest)

1. INTRODUCTION

The Embassy of the Republic of Korea has the honour to inform that the National institute for International Education (NIIED) under the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Korea will invite 7 Senegalese, 4 Guinean (Conakry) and 1 Gambian nationals for Korean Government Scholarship Programme for International Students for an Graduate Degree” (“2019 Graduate GKS”).

2. NUMBER OF GRANTEES AND ELIGIBILITY

2.1. Degree Programme (Master and Doctoral)

For Senegalese: Applicants must submit their application either to the Korean Embassy in Senegal or to one of the designated Korean universities, not both

For Guinean (Conakry) : Applicants must submit their application directly to one of the designated university.   

For Gambian : Applicants must submit their application to the Korean Embassy in Senegal

2.2. Research Program: 10 Candidates

-The Research Program candidates are selected from 155 countries that are invited to take part in 2019 Global Korea Scholarship for Graduate degrees. There is no reserved quota per country.

-The Research Program applicants must receive invitation from universities prior to applying to this program. 

2.3 Eligibility (Conditions may apply, please refer to attached application guideline)

- Nationality : Applicants and their parents must hold non-Korean citizenship

- Age : Applicants must be under 40 years of age as of September 1, 2019 (born after September 1, 1979)

- Degree Requirements : Applicants must hold or must be expected to hold a Bachelor’s, Master’s or a Doctoral degree by August 31st, 2019.

- Grades: All applicants must have maintained the overall grade point average (CGPA) equivalent to or higher than any ONE of the following from their respective universities

- Health : All applicants must be in good health, both mentally and physically, to study in Korea for the full duration of degree or research programs.

3. DURATION AND BENEFITS   

3.1 Duration

1. Master’s Degree Program : 3 years  (2019. 9. 1. ~ 2022. 8. 31.)

-Korean language course 1 year + degree program 2 years.

2. Doctoral Degree Program: 4 years  (2019. 9. 1. ~ 2023. 8. 31.)

-1 year of Korean language program, 3 years of regular degree program.

3. Research Program : Research Program: 6 Months (2019. 9. 1. ~ 2020. 2. 29.)

3.1 Application through Korean Embassy (For Senegalese and Gambian only)

 - Send completed application dossier (See 3.4 below and refer to application guideline) via postal services (La Poste, DHL etc), before March 22, 2019 (date of arrival)

(Any incomplete application dossier/ late arrival will not be considered)

- Selected Applicants will be invited for an interview between March 26 and 30 2019.

 (For Senegalese: Interview will be held in Embassy, For Gambian: telephone interview)

3.2 Direct Application to available universities (For Senegalese and Guinean)

- Please refer to attached application guideline section III for available universities

- Apply directly to only one university of your choice

- Application deadline may vary according to participating universities, please enquire universities directly
