Timor Post - 10/10
Director General of Youth and Labor Paulo Alves informed that from January to June 2017, Timor-Leste workers in Korea gave income to the country as much as 1 million dollars.
In order to gain revenue, the government cooperates with BNU and Western Union. The number of workers sending money to Timor-Leste is close to 500. Financial data is obtained from BNU and Western Union. However, data from July to December has not been obtained.
“As for the Timor-Leste workers in Australia having a shorter work contract of 6 months, so every time they returned from Australia we would call them to inquire directly the amount of money they brought home to help the family,” Mr. Paul said.
