On Monday May 7th, Ambassador Kim You-Churl hosted a dinner for members of the Korea-Uganda Cultural Friendship Association.
The Association members said that Korea had similar past experiences to Uganda, and yet very impressively overcame them and has developed exponentially. The members also expressed their wish for closer cooperation with the Embassy in cultural and economic areas. They also very much welcomed the recent developments on peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula achieved through the summit talks.
Amb. Kim said a ‘Can-do’ spirit had been the key to Korea’s development and expressed his hope that Uganda could share the spirit as well. He intimated that Uganda ought to develop its potential to become more of the ‘Pearl of Africa’ and the ‘Heart of Africa’.
