On Friday 25th May, Amb. Kim attended the graduation ceremony of Reformed Theological College(RTC) in Bunamwaya, as the guest of honor.
50 students graduated this year, and over 200 of their family members and friends attended the ceremony to celebrate with the graduates. It was very joyous occasion as the students danced when entering the graduation hall, as well as singing and ululating the room, singing each time their friends received the award.
In his congratulatory remarks, Amb. Kim mentioned that the Republic of Korea used to be one of the poorest country in the world, but that it has now developed tremendously fast and is rated at around number 10 top economic power in the world. He explained that the secret of this success is firstly, ‘can-do spirit’ of determination and self-reliance; secondly, the Korean Government strategy focusing on the two essential aspects of food security and infrastructure, and lastly, formation of a massive and strong middle class in society.
Amb. Kim further emphasized the importance of “I” in the ‘can-do spirit’ stating that it was the initiative of individual Ugandans which would bring about the achievement of the country’s national development.
He extended his heartfelt congratulations again and expressed that he was looking forward to a bright future ahead for the graduates and for Uganda.
