On Friday July 20th, the Deputy Director of Canaan Global Leadership Center(CGLC), Mr. Kim Jangsaeng paid a visit to the Embassy. Ambassador Kim You-Churl and Mr. Kim discussed issues of cooperation with Uganda for development. CGLC is a none-profit organization offering specialized agricultural training, as derived from the Canaan Farmer School. Since 2007 it has produced about 700 excellent trainees in all over the world in Africa, Asia, and South America etc.
Mr. Kim mentioned that it is CGLC’s objective to boost local farmers’ incomes. They are partnering with Samsung Electronics and other agencies in order to accomplish this goal. As a way of preventing waterbourne diseases, Mr. Kim shared their plan to supply portable water purifiers. Amb. Kim extended his appreciation for these fruitful results. He also stated his wish that Uganda’s precious resources could be used efficiently and for fair distribution of incomes among farmers through the efforts of CGLC and other important organizations.
As the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, we would like to continually contribute to the development of agriculture in the rural communities of Uganda. We hope that fair income distribution could be realized, leading to change in these communities.
