The Consulate serves the jurisdictions of Georgia, Alabama, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee as well as the commonwealth of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
There are an estimated 250,000 overseas Koreans in the Consulate’s jurisdiction.
The Consulate is located in the capital city of Georgia, Atlanta. Many distinguished companies have headquarters located in Atlanta including CNN, Coca Cola, UPS, and many others. In particular, Atlanta is the headquarters of Delta Airlines. With more than 1 billion people passing through Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport from the U. S. and South America, Atlanta is a major hub for transportation and logistics.
The economy in the southeast U. S. has grown rapidly with investment from foreign companies and the increase of incoming populations. Nearly 180 Korean companies have made inroads in the region, including Hyundai Motors (Montgomery, Alabama), Kia Motors (West Point, Georgia), and other cooperative firms.
The Consulate will promote Korean companies’ business environment in the southeast U.S. and support the activities of future generations of Korean-Americans. The Consulate will also work tirelessly with Korean-American communities in partnership with local and state governments in the region.
