This special event was co-hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Australia, the National Arboretum Canberra, and the Arboretum’s volunteer organization, the Friends of the National Arboretum Canberra.
Approximately 100 guests attended, including Michael Pettersson MLA, Minister for Business, Arts and Creative Industries, Mike Woolley, Chair of the Friends of the National Arboretum, Stuart Jeffress, Executive Manager of the Arboretum, representatives from the Korea National Park Service, and many dedicated volunteers.
H.E. Admiral (Retd) Seungseob Sim, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Australia, expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the volunteers who devoted their time and effort to creating the beautiful hand-crafted tree scarves and crafts inspired by Korea. He also shared his hope that the event would serve as an opportunity to promote awareness of Korea’s natural heritage in Australia and further strengthen bilateral cooperation in the field of environmental conservation.
Warm Trees is a meaningful annual project where volunteers create and display vibrant knitted tree scarves and crafts inspired by a different country each year at the National Arboretum Canberra.
This year’s event, themed around Korea, runs from July 1 to August 10.
