On November 10, 2024 (Sunday), Ambassador Lee Eun-yong hosted a welcome dinner for Han Hwa-Jin, Co-Chair of the of the Presidential Commission on Carbon Neutrality and Green Growth (CNC), who was visiting Azerbaijan to attend the 29th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP29).
During the event, Co-Chair Han explained the main objectives and policy directions of the CNC, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation in achieving South Korea's carbon neutrality goals. She also shared that, through attending COP29, she discussed specific cooperation plans for expanding Korea’s role in the international community and promoting sustainable green growth and energy transition.
Ambassador Lee expressed strong agreement with the Commission’s vision and goals, promising continued support and interest in expanding cooperation between South Korea and Azerbaijan in addressing climate change and in the green industry sector. Attendees shared the view that the cooperation between the two countries would open new possibilities not only for climate change response but also for economic and industrial collaboration. They agreed to explore specific cooperation plans moving forward.
