International Conference for Korean-Azerbaijani Scientific Cooperation on Archaeology was held

Embassy of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Azerbaijan together with Korean Association for Research in Eurasian Civilization and Azerbaijan National Academy of Science (ANAS), held International Conference for Korean-Azerbaijani Scientific Cooperation on Archaeology at the conference hall of ANAS on 20 June, 2024. At this year’s event presentations were made not only by Korean and Azerbaijani distinguished academicians, but also by Turkish and Georgian experts on archeology. Around 100 people related to or interested in the field of archeology attended the conference.

During his congratulatory remarks, Ambassador Lee said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the countries in 1992, cooperation has been strengthened in the fields of politics, economy, culture, tourism, etc. He added that archeological cooperation of the past 15 years is a great example and successful result of development of mutual relations. Ambassador concluded that through this international conference, he hopes that academic achievements of the past 15 years will be shared and participants will learn from and study the history of the two peoples' development, and find ways to expand future-oriented cooperation between the two countries.

Through this event, it was possible to look back on the achievements of cooperation in the field of archeology, which has contributed to the development of archeology in Azerbaijan and the strengthening of Korea-Azerbaijan relations. Based on this event, it can be accessed that a venue has been created for discussing ways to deepen cooperation more broadly between Korea and Azerbaijan.
