Embassy of the Republic of Korea in People's Republic of Bangladesh

The Embassy of the Republic of Korea held the [2nd Ambassador Cup Taekwondo Championship in Bhutan] at the International Boxing Training Center in Thimphu, Bhutan, from September 1 to 2. The event, which hosted the [2025 Korean Cultural Week] was held in collaboration with the Bhutan Taekwondo Federation, and 150 athletes and officials and 200 audiences attended, centering on youth and young people practicing Taekwondo in each schools and regions.

As the Taekwondo training population is around 27,000 (Bhutan's total population is about 790,000), Taekwondo is expected to develop further as there are many Taekwondo training populations compared to the total population and Taekwondo is taught at each school actively. In particular, thanks to the [Taekwondo Center in Thimphu] supported by the International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) which  is scheduled to be completed in 2026, and dispatching  [Lee Ju-sang, Master of Kukkiwon] to Bhutan, the status of Taekwondo is expected to continue to increase significantly.
