Brunei’s No. 1 Blogger “Ranoadidas” Participation in the 2017 Asia’s Cultural Young Leaders’ Camp in Korea

The Republic of Korea recently hosted the 2017 Asia’s Cultural Young Leaders’ Camp which was held from June 25 to June 30, 2017 in three different locations; Seoul, Pyeongchang and Gangneung.

The program aims to promote understanding and foster friendship among the next generation of leaders from Asia states. It is designed to provide the participants with an opportunity to share cultural experiences, broaden networks, and work together to find a way of collaboration among Asian young leaders. This program targets the youths who are interested in New media and use the media skillfully.

Being the top blogger in Brunei, Mr. Rano Iskandar (Ranoadidas) was recommended by the Korean Embassy to represent Brunei and participate in the program. In Korea, Mr. Rano Iskandar got to meet with the organizers and participants from other countries and as part of the program they were brought on field trips to several well-known locations such as the venue of the upcoming 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, Korean Demilitarized Zone, etc. As Mr Rano Iskandar mentioned in his article, “The hospitality was top notch and Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Korea) knew how to take care of all the representatives from Asia Pacific during their stay in Seoul, Korea”.

According to Mr. Rano Iskandar, at one of the sporting venues in Pyeongchang, specifically, the Alpensia, the ski practices were conducted on a steep slope of carpeted grass (since it was summer season and there was no snow). Watching the skiers slide down the slope were intense because one slight mistake could mean grave injuries for the skiers but to his relief and amazement, the ski runs were done with success. During this visit, Mr. Rano Iskandar was able to witness, in person, how ready and well-prepared Korea was to host the 2018 winter games in Pyeongchang.

All the site visits during the trip always have something that makes the visit memorable and exciting. Mr. Rano Iskandar’s experiences can be found in his blog at http://rano360.com together with pictures of some of the conducted activities. His full account of his trip is attached herewith.
