[F-1-D] Workation(Digital Nomad) Visa

[F-1-D] WORKATION (DIGITAL NOMAD) VISA ※ Starting from January, 2024 



 Eligible Applicant


- A Person who has been employed in a foreign company (or owns foreign company) for more than 1 year and are able to 

  work remotely in Korea, and their family.

- Age: 18 year old or older (Dependent family can be younger).

※ Please note that applicants from certain countries who are presently in Canada (ex: temporary workers, 

   international students etc.) must have been residing in Canada for at least 2 years (730 days) continuously 

   when submitting a visa application. 


 Visa Information


▷Period of Stay: Up to 1 year

▷Validation of Visa: 1 year from the date of issue

▷Entry: Multiple Entry

▷Visa Fee: $117 CAD (Cash or Money Order), for certain countries' visa fees are vary.

▷Processing Time: approximately 10 business days


 Conditions for a Workation Visa


- Must earn more than twice the Korean GNI(Gross National Income) per capita of the previous year as announced by the 

  Bank of Korea, after tax deduction.


*Current standard is 2022 Korean GNI per capita X 2. One must earn approx. USD $65,800 per year or USD $5,483 per 

  month after tax deduction to apply for this visa.


- Do not have Criminal record.


- Has Medical insurance that covers 75,000 USD for medical treatment and return to home country in case of emergency. 

  Insurance must cover 1 year (stay in Korea).



 Required Documents


1. Visa Application form (File #1)

    - Section 1.7 National Identity Number: SIN #

    - Section 2.2 Visa Code: Your visa category you are applying for


  •     2. Passport (Original and Photocopy, must be valid more than 6 months)


  •     3. A Passport-type Colour photo (white background, 3.5 x 4.5cm, date stamped taken with 6 months at the back)


 4. If you are not Canadian, please submit your Valid Canadian Visa (PR Card, Work/Study Permit)

       -PR Card (original & photocopy front and back), Work/Study Permit (original & photocopy)  


 ※ PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT FOR NON-CANADIANS TO APPLY FOR TOURISM VISA, THOSE OF THE FOLLOWING

     NATIONALITY:CHINA, PHILIPPINES, INDONESIA, VIETNAM, MONGOL, THAILAND, PAKISTAN, SRI LANKA, INDIA, 

     MYANMAR, NEPAL, IRAN, RUSSIA, UZBEKISTAN, KAZAKHSTAN, KRYGYZSTAN, UKRAINE, NIGERIA, GHANA, EGYPT, 

     PERU SHOULD BE A RESIDENT OF CANADA FOR MORE THAN TWO YEARS AND WILL BE ASKED TO SUBMIT GOVERNMENT 

     ISSUED  DOCUMENTATION TO PROVE. 


 5. Criminal Record Check 

    Fingerprints C.R.C. from RCMP issued within 6 months and Apostille confirmation by Global Affairs Canadada, 

      Authentication Services Section.

    - Criminal Recard Check from Home country issued within 6 months and Apostille confirmation by the Government of home 

      country or notarization by Korean Consulate in your home country. 


  ※ If you have lived in other country more than 1 year within 5 years from visa submitting date, you must submit the country's 

      criminal record check with notarization or Apostile.

    

 6. Employment Verification Letter that proves one's current employment and at least 1 year of employment in the

     past (Issued within 2 weeks from application date)


 7. Previous 3 months bank statement

     - The applicant’s name must be clearly shown on the bank statement with certified bank stamp on it.


 8. Documents proving your income (salary) (example: Pay stub, tax returns)

  •    

 9. Documents proving your Medical Insurance (including coverage details)


  •    10. Documents proving the family relations if applicable (Marriage Certificate or Birth Certificate)


  •    11. Visa Fee: $117 CAD(CASH OR MONEY ORDER(PAY TO THE ORDER-KOREAN CONSULATE GENERAL)

  •     ※ For certain countries' visa fees are vary. 

  •   


 Notice for Workation Visa Holder


 For stay more than 91 days in the Republic of Korea, you need to apply for foreigner registration with the immigration (branch) 

   office having jurisdiction over the place of your residence within 90 days from the date of entry into the country.


 If you have changed your place of residence, you must report the new address to either the immigration (branch) office or 

   Si/Gun/Gu office having jurisdiction over the new place of residence within 14 days after moving in.


 The authorized period of stay is 1 year from the date of entry and can be extended up to 1 year. For extension of your stay, 

    please visit a jurisdictional immigration office.


 While staying in the Republic of Korea with a Workation visa, employment activities in the territory of the ROK are strictly 

   restricted, and any violation of this shall result in punishments in accordance with the Immigration Act.

※ Please refer to each visa category you’re applying for to verify the required documents for your visa category. 


※ If you already received a visa, but never used before and have a remaining validity date, you cannot resubmit your visa 

   application. 


※ Please note that additional documents may be requested upon Consul’s review


※ All Visa applicants must be physically present within our jurisdictions (Ottawa and Nunanut) at the time of application. It is unlawful to ship your passport overseas. 


※ The head of Korean diplomatic missions abroad may request for additional documents depending on the condition of the 

    country of residence/jurisdiction if it is deemed necessary for visa evaluation.


※ After your visa has been submitted, all submitted supporting documents will not be returned back to the applicant except your

    original passport, PR Card, Visa Permits. During the visa process, you may cancel your visa but, we do not return your 

    submitted documents and visa fee.
