Ambassador-designate Lim Stresses Canada’s Role in Korean Peninsula at 2022 Peace Forum

Korean Ambassador-designate Lim Woongsoon attended the 2022 Korean Peninsula Peace Forum hosted by the Peaceful Unification Advisory Council, a Seoul-based presidential consultative body with branches around the world, in Ottawa on October 18. In his opening speech, Ambassador-designate Lim highlighted that Canada can play an important role in promoting peace in the Korean Peninsula and the Indo-Pacific region as one of Korea’s like-minded partners that share such important values as freedom, democracy, and human rights.


After the forum, Ambassador-designate Lim hosted a reception at the embassy for the speakers and participants, including Ahn Ho Young, chair professor at the University of North Korean Studies in Seoul and former ambassador to the United States, Paul Thoppil, Assistant Deputy Minister for Global Affairs Canada, Ali Ehsassi MP, former Canadian Ambassadors to the Republic of Korea Len Edward and Michael Danagher, Young-Hae Lee, president of Canada Korea Society, Casey Choi, vice chairman of the Peaceful Unification Advisory Council Assembly of America, and Kim Yeon Soo, president of the Council’s Toronto Chapter.
