A person who meets the qualifications determined by the Minister of Justice, and plans to teach conversational language at a foreign language institute, affiliated- language research institute or educational institute of higher than elementary school, or language training institute affiliated with an enterprise or broadcasting company, or other equivalent organization.

※ You can only apply for the visa after you receive your Visa Eligibility Certificate. For enquiries on how to obtain it, please contact your recruiter or employer. 

Specific eligibility for this visa if you are:

1. A teacher at an English Academy (Hag-won/학원)

- A person who wants to teach a foreign language in accordance with Article 3(3) of the presidential decree of the Act on the Establishment and Operation of Private Teaching Institutes and Extracurricular Lessons

2. A teacher at an academic institution such as elementary school or higher, or recruited/selected by an affiliated language center.

3. A foreign language instructor at corporate language centers for employee on-the-job-training

4. A foreign language instructor at a continuing education institute in accordance with the Lifelong Education Act

* A school affiliated continuing education facility, a continuing education institute in the form of a school, a university affiliated to a company, or online campus, an continuing education affiliate of civil society groups or media organizations, a continuing education facility related to the development of knowledge and human resources.

5. A foreign language instructor teaching at a continuing education facility established and run by a state or local government in accordance with other laws (including regulations)

6. A foreign language instructor teaching at a vocational facility or vocational corporation established in accordance with the Workers Vocational Skills Development Act

7. A corporation or a public institute* which has set up a language center with required equipment and facilities to teach a foreign language for its employees

▷Period of Stay: Up to 2 years (the duration indicated on your Visa Issuance Certificate) but, generally 13 months.

▷Validation of Visa: 3 months from the visa issuance

▷Entry: Single entry

▷Visa Fee: $78 CAD for Canadians (Cash or Money Order)

▷Processing Time: approximately 14 business days

1. Visa Application Form for those with Visa Eligibility Certificate (File #1)

     - Print out and fill out the form with signature and name at the bottom

2. Original Passport and a photocopy of passport

      - Original passport must have a validity of 6 months or more left

      - If you are not Canadian, photocopy of PR Card or other Canadian Valid Visa such as Work/Study Permit)

3. 1 Colour Photo (size 3.5 x 4.5cm)

     - White background, date stamped taken within 6 months at the back of the photo

4. Signed employment contract

     - Signed by both the applicant and the academic institution

5. Document providing an overview of the academic institution with the name, phone number, and email of the contact person at the academic institution

6. Visa Fee (Only Cash or Money Order)

    - $78 CAD for Canadians

     - Money Order (Pay to the orderㅡKorean consulate General)

7. Documents to prove renunciation (국적상실신고)

        Only applicable for those who had Korean nationality in the past.

-[If you reported before 2008]: 

O If you have reported renunciation before 2008, please provide jejokdeungbon (제적등본) issued within 3 months from the date of application.

-[If you reported after 2008]:

O If you have reported renunciation after 2008, please provide basic certificate (“기본증명서” ) and family relation certification (“가족관계증명서”) issued within 3 months from the date of application in detailed version (상세, 전부공개). 

※ Photocopies of these documents can be submitted but not printed photos. Please be aware that if the documents have 2 pages, you must submit the second page also.

※ Please refer to each visa category you’re applying for to verify the required documents for your visa category. 

※ If you already received a visa, but never used before and have a remaining validity date, you cannot resubmit your visa application. 

※ Please note that additional documents may be requested upon Consul’s review

※ All Visa applicants must be physically present within our jurisdictions (QC, NB, NS, PEI, NL) at the time of application. It is unlawful to ship your passport overseas. 

※ The head of Korean diplomatic missions abroad may request for additional documents depending on the condition of the country of residence/jurisdiction if it is deemed necessary for visa evaluation.

※ After your visa has been submitted, all submitted supporting documents will not be returned back to the applicant except your original passport, PR Card, Visa Permits. During the visa process, you may cancel your visa but, we do not return your submitted documents and visa fee. 

※ When you apply your visa through Canada Prepaid Xpress envelope, please keep your tracking # (MW 000 000 000 CA). You must include Canada Prepaid Xpress return envelope (return address written on it) and original passport along with other visa documents. 

※ Please be aware that incomplete application package will be returned back to you without processing.
