Important Notice for all those wishing to travel to Korea during COVID-19:

As of April 13, 2020, all visa-free entry to Korea by Canadians (and most other nationalities) has been temporarily suspended. At this time, we are not issuing visas for any tourism and non-essential purposes and most visas issued prior to April 5, 2020 are invalid unless it is an F-4 or C-4 visa (and a limited number of other visas). 

All foreigners must apply for and receive a visa in order to board a flight to Korea (even spouses, children, and parents of Korean nationals - unless their nationality is Korean and carry valid Korean passports).

While we are NOT accepting visas for TOURISM (including working holiday visa), job-searching visas, medical tourism, etc., we are accepting ALL other visa applications for purpose of entry that are deemed ESSENTIAL including F-4 visa (for those of Korean descent), family members of Korean nationals or foreigners residing in Korea with a long term visa, work visa, student visa, spousal visa, etc and each visa application are being assessed for visa issuance. ALL visas we issue during this time will be single-entry. If you submit ALL necessary documents, your visa application will be assessed. Please note that in addition to the regular lists of documents, you must submit additional document(s) during COVID-19. All visas are reviewed individually and approval and visa issuance are not automatic. Visa issuance will be according to up-to-date government directives and internal policies.

As well, as of July 1, 2020, the Korean government no longer issues sticker-based visas and have converted to "Visa Grant Notice", which applicants can access and print at home from http://www.visa.go.kr (click to go to the article for detailed instructions).

Even though we are no longer issuing visa stickers, you MUST still submit your passport at the time of application for us to be able to access the electronic information from your passport and process your visa.

This information is current as of the date this article was updated. If/when travel restrictions are eased or heightened, we will update our website accordingly. 

Current & former F-4 visa holders:

If you are a Korean Canadian and have a valid F-4 visa, you may enter Korea but without a valid F-4 visa. If you do not have an F-4 visa or have an expired F-4 visa, you must apply anew. At this time, immediate family members of Korean nationals are not exempted from visa application.

The Consulate does not have the capacity to renew expired visas nor to extend your visa. This can only be done in Korea by the Ministry of Immigration.
