MINISTRY OF JUSTICE GUIDELINE CHANGES AS OF JANUARY 6, 2021:
As the government of Korea is now requiring foreigners entering Korea to provide negative COVID-19 PCR results at the time of boarding their flight to Korea (results are valid for 72 hours) that arrives on or after January 8, 2021 at 0 am KST, we are no longer requiring negative COVID-19 PCR results at the time of visa application for the duration of time that the measure to get tested before a flight is in place (or until further announced).
The other 2 additional madatory requirements during COVID-19 remain the same. For complete instructions for 2 mandatory requirements during COVID-19, click here.
✈ Please note that for those landing in Korea as of January 8, 2021 at 0 am (KST), you must submit to your airline at the time of boarding your flight a negative COVID-19 PCR test results obtained within less than 72 hours of your flight.
MINISTRY OF JUSTICE GUIDELINE CHANGES AS OF DECEMBER 21, 2020: Beginning Dec 21, 2020, as per Ministry of Justice guidelines, we are no longer accepting COVID-19 ASSESSMENT LETTERS from doctors confirming that the patient does not exhibit (or claim not to exhibit) common COVID-19 symptoms. This change is due to the fact that those who reside in Canada are able to get PCR tests done for COVID-19 and there is an increasing number of COVID-19 POSITIVE patients globally who are asymptomatic or claim to be asymptomatic who cannot be screened simply by an assessment letter. This measure is in effect as of December 21, 2020 and will apply to every applicant except those attending the funeral of an immediate family member in Korea (they will still be permitted to submit either COVID-19 TEST RESULTS or ASSESSMENT letters as the nature of their visit is urgent and extremely time sensitive). - SUMMARY OF CHANGES - UNTIL DEC 18, 2020: Option to submit either OPTION 1 COVID-19 ASSESSMENT LETTER or OPTION 2 (NEGATIVE) COVID-19 TEST RESULTS. You needed have been seen in person by the doctor or get tested at the test centre maximum of 48 hours before your visa application time. FROM DEC 21, 2020: Everyone must submit NEGATIVE COVID-19 TEST RESULTS except those attending the funeral of an immediate family member in Korea (they will still be permitted to submit either COVID-19 TEST RESULTS or ASSESSMENT letter) The TEST RESULTS are only valid for 48 hours. This is different from before. This means your test is valid for longer since you can now get tested more than 48 hours before your appointment time as long as the results are not more than 48 hours old. DETAILED STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE FOR TESTING: 1) When you have ALL required documents except your COVID-19 TEST RESULTS, please book a visa application appointment online. 2) After you secure a visa application appointment (appointment is confirmed only when you receive an automated confirmation email), please make an appointment to get COVID-19 test done. TEST RESULTS ARE VALID FOR 48 HOURS. Test results take minimum 12 hours to 1 week in Ontario and Manitoba. Please contact the test centre (or multiple testing centres) to enquire approximate time the results will be released by and book an appointment to get tested enough time in advance so that the test results come out by your visa appointment time but the time the results come out does not exceed 48 hours. 3) At the time of your visa appointment, s ubmit your printed negative test results (you cannot present the results on your phone). We will ask applicants to show us the printed negative test results through the glass window first before examining all the rest of your documents.
