The Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Toronto held a flag-raising ceremony at the Ontario Legislative Building on Thursday, October 2, to commemorate the 4,357th National Foundation Day of Korea (Gaecheonjeol) and the 44th Korean Heritage Day in Ontario.
Before and after the ceremony, Samulnori Canada presented dynamic traditional Korean percussion performances, including Aekmaegi Taryeong and Pangut, which were warmly received by attendees.
Korean lunch boxes and souvenirs featuring the traditional Korean painting Irwolobongdo (the Sun, Moon, and Five Peaks) were also distributed, offering guests a taste of Korean culture.
On Friday, October 3, Niagara Falls was illuminated in the three colors of the Taegeukgi (the Korean national flag), followed by a 15-minute fireworks display at 10:00 p.m., adding vibrant festivities to the celebration of Korea’s National Foundation Day.
