1. Introduction

- Korean Electronic Travel Authorization (K-ETA) is a system through which a visa-free entry permit can be obtained by providing in advance personal and travel-related information on the website (it is similar to Canada's ETA and US' ESTA)

- Foreigners (i.e. Canadians) can access the K-ETA website and apply 72 hours prior to boarding the flight.

- Please refer to www.k-eta.go.kr for detailed instructions.

※ The system analyzes biometric information, restricted travellers, and passenger risk, and generally gives automatic permission within 24 hours.

2. Requirements for K-ETA application

1) Valid passport
2) Valid email address
3) Photo of face (submit a file for desktop application or a mobile photo for mobile application)
4) Credit card for fee payment (10,000 won, which is approx $10)

3. Other highlights

1) Canadians can stay in Korea for up to 6 months for tourism or other reasons that is not for-profit when you receive K-ETA.

2) Visa application and issuance is still required when entering Korea for other reasons such as for work or long term stay.

3) Visa-free entry is separate from Korea's quarantine requirements.
(PCR test before departure and receiving Q-CODE for quarantine exemption for fully vaccinated travellers are separate from K-ETA and must be obtained separately.)

4) For additional inquiries, please consult the FAQ on the K-ETA website as the Consulate does not process K-ETA applications.
