The government of the Republic of Korea is deeply concerned over Israel’s attack on Al-Tabaeen school in Gaza City in the northern Gaza Strip on August 10 which resulted in the deaths of numerous innocent civilians, and expresses its sincere sympathy and condolences to the victims and their families.

The ROK government stresses the obligation of the parties to armed conflicts to protect civilians and strongly reiterates its call for all parties to fully comply with international law, including the international humanitarian law.

Furthermore, the ROK government is of the belief that only an immediate ceasefire and the release of hostages can stop such tragedy, and urges once again that relevant parties respond to the mediators’ call to resume negotiations.
