Foreign Minister of Panama to Visit Korea Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Panama Jose Miguel Aleman will visit the Republic of Korea between July 10-13, 2001, at the invitation by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Han Seung-soo. During the visit, Minister Aleman will pay a courtesy call on President Kim Dae-jung, hold the ROK-Panama Foreign Ministers' Meeting, participate in a conference on securing investment by the Korean companies, and visit industrial sites. At the ROK-Panama Foreign Ministers' Meeting, the two ministers will exchange views on various issues, including ways to promote bilateral cooperation in economy and trade�such as the Korean companies?participation in the redevelopment project of the Panama Canal--, as well as in the international arena, and other issues of mutual interest such as the 40th anniversary event for the establishment of diplomatic ties between the ROK and Panama in 2002. Following the meeting, the signing of a bilateral visa exemption agreement and an investment guarantee agreement will take place. Minister Aleman's visit is expected to provide an opportunity to uplift the bilateral friendly ties onto a higher level, which have been amicably maintained since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1962. Minister Aleman will be accompanied by a number of high-ranking Panamanian officials�including a vice minister of planning and management and a public information official--, and a group of Panamanian businessmen interested in the ROK.
