MOFAT Spokesperson’s Comment on Fire at Shooting Range in Busan

1. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade truly feels sorry that many Japanese nationals along with 
Koreans died or were injured in a fire at a shooting range in Busan on November 14, and expresses 
its sincere condolences and sympathy to the victims and their families.

2. Immediately after being informed of the accident, the Foreign Ministry has formed a task force to 
respond to the accident, and the 2nd Vice Foreign Minister called the Japanese Ambassador to Korea 
on November 15 to extend his condolences and express Korea’s commitment to a prompt response. 
Also, the Ministry has sent Deputy Director-General for Overseas Koreans and Consular Affairs to Busan 
to consult closely with relevant agencies, the Japanese government, and the bereaved families of the 
Japanese victims regarding follow-up measures.

3. The Foreign Ministry will cooperate closely with relevant ministries and the Japanese side, and take 
all possible measures to deal with the aftermath, including providing medical treatment to injured people 
and handling fatalities.
