1. With regard to increased damage caused by a global H1N1 pandemic in recent months, the Government
of the Republic of Korea has decided to provide emergency relief supplies worth 50,000 dollars to support
crisis response efforts in Ukraine, which is having difficulties handling the emergency situation due to an
underdeveloped healthcare system, and join the international community in its humanitarian assistance
activities.
※ As of November 2, Ukraine has seen 250,000 flu patients and some 70 flu-related deaths. The sample
test results indicate that most cases of influenza in Ukraine might have been caused by H1N1 virus.
2. Concerning the damage from the H1N1 spread, the Ukrainian government has called on international
organizations, including the World Health Organization (WHO), and foreign governments to provide
humanitarian emergency aid. The Korean government will provide flu masks that the Ukrainian government
has asked for.
