New President of the Society for East Sea Elected

1. The Society for East Sea, an incorporated association, has elected the incumbent Vice-President
Park No-hyoung (Professor at Korea University Law School) as the new President for a five-year term,
and the incumbent President Lee Ki-suk (Honorary Professor at Seoul National University Department
of Geography Education) as the Honorary President at the 20th regular meeting of the Board of Directors
on February 1.
2. The Society for East Sea, a non-profit organization registered with the Foreign Ministry in 1994 in
an effort to make the geographical term "East Sea" widely used in the international community, is
an academic society which studies and publicizes the term “East Sea.”
3. The Society has contributed largely to publicizing and disseminating the term “East Sea” in the
international community by conducting academic study and research into the historicity and legitimacy
of the notation “East Sea,” holding international seminars on the term “East Sea,” and publishing
PR brochures.
