ROK and Japan Launch the 2nd Joint Research Project on a New Era of Relations

1. The inaugural meeting of the 2nd Joint Research Project on a New Era of ROK-Japan Relations will take place in Tokyo, Japan, on December 12, marking the formal launch of the Project, as agreed to do so at an early date at the bilateral summit held on October 19, 2011.

2. Building upon the outcome of the 1st Joint Research Project, the 2nd Project will seek out ways to expand the human network and exchanges in the knowledge, cultural and media sectors, as well as cooperation in a wide range of other fields, including nuclear and other energy sources, complex security, economic order, technology, and environment. A report on ways to realize future visions of ROK-Japan relations will be submitted to the governments of the two countries.

3. The 2nd Joint Research Project on a New Era of ROK-Japan Relations is expected to be conducted actively and offer constructive suggestions, thereby contributing greatly to developing the cooperative ties between the two countries in a future-oriented manner.
