ROK to Provide Iran with US$200,000 in Humanitarian Aid to Help Recover from Earthquake

 1. The government of the Republic of Korea has decided to provide humanitarian aid worth US$200,000 to Iran, to help it recover from the earthquake that hit northwestern province of East Azerbaijan on August 11.


※ On August 22, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies announced that the quake left 306 dead, 5000 injured, and 150,000 displaced and that 46 out of 399 villages in the region were crushed along with 10,000 houses.


2. The humanitarian aid by the ROK government will be swiftly provided with a focus on the priority list announced by the Red Crescent Society of Iran and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies on August 22, after discussing the method of transfer with the Red Crescent Society in Iran.
