1. In the wake of the earthquake in Ya'an city, Sichuan province of China on April 20, Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se sent a condolence letter to Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on the evening of April 20.

* President Park Geun-hye and Prime Minister Chung Hong-won also sent condolence letters to Chinese President Xi Jinping and Chinese Premier Li Keqiang respectively on April 20.

2. In the letter, Minister Yun extended his deepest condolences to those who died in the earthquake, their bereaved families and the injured, and expressed his hope for a rapid recovery from the disaster.

3. The Foreign Ministry will review whether to provide humanitarian assistance and its size and timing by comprehensively taking into account the extent of the damage caused by the earthquake, the Chinese government’s position and relevant developments in the international community.
