1. In a bid to enhance bilateral humanities exchanges, agreed upon between the ROK and China during President Park Geun-hye’s state visit to China in June 2013, the ROK and Chinese Foreign Ministries announced 50 humanities exchange projects to be conducted this year on the occasion of Chinese Vice Premier Wang Yang’s latest visit to the ROK.

2. The 50 humanities exchange projects include 10 projects in the academic and educational area, 15 projects in exchanges between provinces, 7 projects in youth exchanges, 13 projects in culture, and 5 projects in other areas. Among them, focus will be placed on a Korean and Chinese young leaders’ forum, a project on bilateral exchanges between 100 young leaders of the two countries, and a project on thematic cities for humanities exchanges (Jeju Special Self-Governing Province and Hainan Province).

3. The ROK and China agreed to jointly pursue 19 humanities exchange projects in 2014 and smoothly implemented all those projects. In the second meeting of the ROK-China Joint Committee on Humanities Exchanges (heads: Vice Foreign Ministers of the two countries) held in Xian, China, in November 2014, the two sides agreed to conduct a variety of humanities exchange projects in a wider range of areas in 2015.

4. The ROK and China will continue to develop various humanities exchange projects every year and thereby deepen mutual understanding as well as psychological and emotional bond between the peoples of the two countries.
