Foreign Ministry to Hold a Meeting with Africa Experts

1. The Foreign Ministry, in an effort to enhance its cooperative ties with Africa, which is emerging as the last growth engine for the global economy, will hold a meeting with relevant experts from various walks of life, including government agencies, the National Assembly, businesses, academia, media outlets and other private sectors, on March 19 to exchange views and build networks with them.

2. The event will bring together about 50 people, including from the “Friends of Africa” and “Africa-loving journalists” groups, the Korea-Africa Center, think tanks on African studies at local universities, the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Federation of Korean Industries, the Korea International Trade Association, the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), and the International Contractors Association of Korea. The participants will share with one another information on Africa and discuss ways to enhance relations with the continent.

3. At the third meeting on Africa following the first and second in September and December 2015, respectively, the Foreign Ministry, together with Africa experts from various sectors, will seek ways to increase exchanges between the Republic of Korea and Africa as well as ways to support bids of ROK nationals and companies to expand their presence in Africa.
