1. With the year 2016 marking the first anniversary of the UN’s adoption of the sustainable development goals (SDGs), the Foreign Ministry, together with the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), will host the first High-Level Follow-up Dialogue on Financing for Development in Asia and the Pacific in Incheon, west of Seoul, on March 30 and 31 to discuss ways to raise development resources necessary for the attainment of the SDGs.

2. The forthcoming meeting, a follow-up meeting on the third International Conference on Financing for Development held in Addis Ababa in July 2015, will cover key issues concerning development resources, including ways to cooperate on tax affairs for the implementation of the SDGs; develop capital markets in developing countries; raise resources for long-term investment in infrastructure; build inclusive financial markets; and raise resources with regard to climate change.

3. By hosting the High-Level Follow-up Dialogue on Financing for Development, the government of the Republic of Korea will contribute actively to efforts to implement the SDGs in the Asia-Pacific region, share with other Asia-Pacific countries its development experiences in the field of tax administration, and thereby greatly enhance its image as a middle-power donor country.
