1. On March 28, Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se met with Secretary-General Taleb Rifai of the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), who is on a visit to the Republic of Korea to attend the “ceremony for the adoption of the Agreement on the Establishment of the International ST-EP Organization.” In their meeting, the Minister and the Secretary-General exchanged views on matters of mutual concern between the ROK and the UNWTO, including ways to work together.

2. The International ST-EP Organization is the successor to the ST-EP Foundation, formerly a UNWTO affiliate established in the ROK with the aim to render support to developing countries with their sustainable development of tourism resources. The ROK, by being chosen to host the headquarters of the Organization, which is unaffiliated from the UNWTO, is seen to have taken another significant step forward in contributing to the efforts of the international community to promote the public good.
