1. The Foreign Ministry, together with the Federation of Korean Industries (FKI), will host a Republic of Korea-Africa networking luncheon at the FKI Conference Center, Seoul, on May 13 to mark the “Africa Day.” The event will bring together about 120 people, including Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se, FKI Chairman Huh Chang-soo, members of the African Diplomatic Corps in the ROK and leading Korean entrepreneurs.

2. The event will consist of a photo exhibition on Africa and an ROK-Africa business session, where presentations on success cases of Korean companies in Africa will be delivered; an ROK-Africa networking luncheon to be attended by Korean entrepreneurs and members of the African Diplomatic Corps in the ROK; and one-on-one business consultations between Korean companies hoping to enter the African market and African diplomats to the ROK.

3. The ROK-Africa networking luncheon event, which will come ahead of President Park Geun-hye’s visit to Ethiopia, Uganda and Kenya, is expected to help African countries better understand the ROK government’s foreign policy toward Africa, offer practical assistance to Korean companies interested in expanding their presence on the continent, and thereby help increase economic and trade cooperation as well as investment between the ROK and African countries.
