1. The Foreign Ministry will form a taskforce to seek ways to cope with Brexit, as the UK's decision to withdraw from the EU could have impact on the Republic of Korea across the board, including diplomacy, security, economy and consular affairs.

2. It was proposed at the Foreign Ministry’s high-level meeting on June 27, chaired by Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se, that the taskforce be formed. The group will be led by Deputy Minister for Economic Affairs Lee Tae-ho and composed of the Directors-General for European Affairs, for Bilateral Economic Affairs, for International Legal Affairs, for Overseas Koreans and Consular Affairs, and for Policy Planning.

3. The first meeting of the taskforce will take place at the Foreign Ministry on July 4.

4. The Foreign Ministry will closely monitor through the taskforce the developments following the UK’s decision to leave the EU and cope actively with Brexit in close cooperation with its overseas missions.
