1. First Vice Foreign Minister Lim Sung-nam held a meeting with Ambassadors to the Republic of Korea Charles Hay and Gerhard Sabathil from the UK and the EU, respectively, on June 29 at the request of the UK and the EU, and was briefed on the UK and the EU’s positions on the former’s decision to withdraw from the latter (or Brexit).

2. The Vice Minister and the two Ambassadors reaffirmed the firm commitment to further deepen and enhance the “ROK-UK comprehensive and creative partnership” forged in 2013 and the “ROK-EU strategic partnership” established in 2010, regardless of the UK’s decision to leave the EU.

° With regard to the EU’s enforcement of unilateral sanctions on North Korea as well as the nuclear and human rights issues of North Korea, they reaffirmed their resolve to continue ROK-UK and ROK-EU coordination in a steadfast manner.

3. The ranking officials agreed to continue joint efforts to increase ROK-UK and ROK-EU substantive cooperation and various forms of people-to-people exchanges.
