Foreign Ministry’s Budget Bill for 2017 to Reflect a 4% Increase from the Year Before

1. The Foreign Ministry has drawn up and will submit to the National Assembly its budget bill for 2.2255 trillion won for the year 2017, up 4% from 2.1393 trillion won of the year before.

2. The Foreign Ministry will continue to build public diplomacy capacity in order to enhance foreign countries’ favorability toward the Republic of Korea and its policies.

3. The Ministry will continue to increasingly use its budget to better protect the ROK nationals overseas and to better ensure the safety of the overseas diplomatic missions.

4. The ROK will seek to be a more responsible member of the international community that takes on a more pivotal role and, as such, will increase contributions to the international community.

5. The Foreign Ministry will continue efforts to build capacity for a thorough implementation of its major projects, including middle power diplomacy.

6. The Ministry has expanded human and physical infrastructure for a smooth implementation of diplomatic activities.

7. The Ministry is seeking to set up a fund for a more stable operation of the “Contribution to International Poverty Eradication” system.
