1. The Government of the Republic of Korea expresses shock and concern over the fact that a number of people were killed and injured in the bombing attack in the diplomatic district of Kabul, Afghanistan, on May 31, local time. The ROK government extends its deepest condolences and sympathy to the victims and their bereaved families as well as the people and the government of Afghanistan.

※ The Afghan government announced on May 31 that the suicide car bombing on the road in front of the German Embassy in the diplomatic district had left at least some 90 dead and another 400 injured.

2. In particular, the brutal terrorist act committed against innocent people during the holy month of Ramadan for peace and mercy is a crime against humanity that cannot be justified under any circumstances, and the ROK government strongly condemns it.

3. The Government of the Republic of Korea will continue to take part in the international efforts to stabilize and reconstruct Afghanistan, and thereby to establish peace in and eradicate terrorism from the country.
